The World of graphic design and illustrations

These days we are coming across various forms of communications through which businesses and people communicate. Means like art forms and digital art have emerged as great career opportunities in this run. We often come across terms like graphic design and illustrations in businesses. How they can be used in attracting customers and increase the revenue of the business? As, Graphic design, as well as illustrations, are used as visual representations of the ideas or the messages that are conveyed about the products or services being offered by the business. This is done to attract customers or the targeted audience. The customers are often convinced using a creative way, which defines the information regarding the product and its packaging in a good way. So first let us understand the term a bit more clearer: What is Meant by Graphic Design? What is graphic design? Graphic design is the way of communicating ideas, using tools like images, words, graphic forms, shapes, typefaces, and expressions. It can be both textual as well as visual. Graphic designers, create designs and symbols in such a way that the page layout describes much about the message that the business or company needs to communicate. This can be done using the branding component that is the logo design, instead of web design can be used too. There are many more typographies and visual arts to promote the product or to convey the message of the product to its targeted group of customers. How can graphic design services be useful to any business? Graphic design acquires the minds of customers through its visual impact. Helps in the Branding of the product as it provides the details like logo design, packaging, and tagline. Helps in visualizing the product details, rather than verbal explanations. Visuals of the designs help the consumer to know more about the product. The vivid display helps the consumer to find mental attachment to the product. Great designs help in creating goodwill. What is Meant by Illustrations? Illustrations are the designs that can be made using watercolors, gouache, or acrylic are generally used to convey the message that is soft or is used to evoke feelings of delicacy. This strategy of illustration is generally used by the business that needs much focus of the creative audience. For instance, posters, flyers, magazines, books, animations, films, video games, teaching materials can be examples of illustrations. Hence, illustrations are creative contexts that are a representation of the texts, concepts, and teaching in a decorative manner. They demand interpretation. These illustrations do not have any text or words in them.        Illustrations Can Play a Key Role in the Establishment of Any Business How illustrations help in communicating the strengths of the business? In this situation, the most minimalistic approach to the minds of the customers is the stylistic and subtle technique of designing a homepage. With the help of illustrations, you can add aesthetic designs and feature very important details regarding the business. The targeted group of customers or the audience when looking at this face of the business or company, they generally are attracted by the characters of these illustrations and help in increasing the revenue as well. Difference Between Graphic Design and Illustrations: Both graphic design and illustrations provide a business with new opportunities that help the brand to develop in the near future. Illustrations and graphic design can be different from each other in the following ways: 1.     Graphic design has more commercial insight than illustrations. Visuals are distinct in graphic designing. Illustrations are fine arts and have personalized artistic traits. Both graphic design and illustrations possess their own separate creative fields. 2.     The graphic design portrays and tells the message that the business tries to deliver. Whereas, illustrations can be used to describe the storyline. Illustrations are made to provide a visual text of the product or service that the business is providing 3.     Graphic design has to be in computer software media. Whereas, illustrations can both be traditional as well as digital. You can first draw them and then upload them as digital copies. 4.     Graphic designs need some words and typography to deliver the message within and are termed as more communicating. While illustrations always exist in a unique form. Illustrations have the capability to explain without the usage of words. And this acquires creative interpretation. The Final Verdict As we have seen that there exists a difference between both the creative fields. Hence, a business should first analyze its needs and requirements. This in turn would help in making a decision regarding which one a business should use to attract consumers, the method of graphic design, or the method of illustrations. Both of the means would attract consumers. But the approach of graphic design is for the more commercial ones. This is because it contains the words with the ouch of visualized images. And if we talk about the illustrations, they can be used by the business when the audience also is creative enough to grasp the hidden message that the illustration tries to convey. This is because illustrations largely depend on feelings or emotions and might not fit in a commercial ecosystem.

Tristan Bance Upgraded His Personal Website With Draftss

Client: Tristan Bance Description: Tristan is a growth marketing freelancer and wished to showcase himself better through his website. Industry: Growth Marketing Project: Web UI Design Problem In the world today when everyone’s online, it becomes important for the individual service providers also to stay updated in the market with the best of the portfolios and projects to be pitched. It not only helps to impress the visitors but also to get hold of the new clients and better opportunities. Tristan also wanted the same. He wanted to redesign his old portfolio website to stay updated as per the market trends. In this way he could showcase himself and his skills in a better way. He thus wished to have a website that portrays the startup atmosphere and gives out a very friendly tone. The design was required to be clear and simple. Tristan also had a slight preference for the color of the universe. Blue and orange were how he described it. A few inspirational templates were also shared as samples. With a fairly rich experience and backed up with a powerful portfolio, everything had to be placed in a very simple yet elegant manner. That’s where we picked it up from! The Draftss Solution Understanding the Problem The brief of the client talked about his color preference, the nature of the communication he wanted his website to have, and the simplicity & elegance he wished to portray. The aim of the website was thus to convey Tristan Bance in a better way to his visitors and potential clients. Some them might not even have heard from him earlier. His past work had to be displayed with utmost efficiency for it to be effective enough to attract visitors for his services and skills. Draftss follows a very open nature of communication. That is, we have a number of channels for the clients to communicate with us to help maintain the comfort and clarity of the particulars being conveyed. We kept in touch with Tristan Bance constantly upon the email thread. Wee also used to regularly share the progress as well as the outlines of the ideation process. Brainstorming Solutions & Crafting Results Our design team with their screens and touchpads on started off with the design of the outline of the idea. The ideation went on for quite some time and clarity started coming in for what had to be showcased upon the screen. We started off with something very minimalistic and plain. Sketched out the layout of the plan and tried to visualize what had to be the perfect fill for all of these spaces. All of the information, text, and visual content had to fit in perfectly with a very neat and clean interface. Along all those lines that the brief spoke about, we started coming up with something that started looking like a landing page. We redesigned it a number of times with as many iterations as to make it aesthetically pleasing. We also started sharing the progress with Tristan and with every update he just had to say, “this is exactly what I had actually expected”. With several suggestions and reviews from both the ends of the client as well as the designing team, we developed a number of design concepts for several other pages and features of the website. That’s what we do at Draftss – Propose a number of great concepts for a single design to choose from! Some were loved by Tristan and others were reiterated. With each of the designs getting finalized, the website was looking as perfect as it could’ve been. The tasks thus started finishing off. We went on to design newsletters, some additional sections, logo for the newsletter, and the design for the onboarding email. Finally, we went onto the phase of integration of the design with the Elementor Tristan had to upgrade to. With constant feedback, reviews, and fixes, we started developing the design into a full-fledged working web platform. The landing page of the website comes with the preferred blue color. It also stays very soothing to the eyes of the visitors. With simplicity and minimalism embedded in each of the elements of this design, every detail holds the eyes. The navigation was made very easy and different sections of the site have been linked in a highly efficient manner. With a very sophisticated and sober design of the elements, the theme of the website stays constant with a brief introduction of Tristan Bance. The section had to be crisp, very brief, and very natural in its way. It had to talk about itself and convey more than what is mentioned. Layering one textual color over the other further adds up to the strength of the context. To convey what Tristan can do for his clients, each and every service he provides is listed in a very embarking and bold font. With those little icons defining more about the text and the section title matching up the color theme, the shadow effect under the boxes adds up to the shine of the section. With the visuals and logos of the clients, the design makes a very powerful impression upon the visitors for Tristan Bance and his services. The shadow under each of the circles is themed in blue color which even enhances the vibes of the website. With a very cool and fresh look for the website, Tristan also got a very innovative concept to showcase his fees. Pricing is written on the left-hand side. The right-hand side of the section showcases the process of how Tristan is going to work. From top to the bottom, every single section has been ideated and worked upon with attention and dedication. This becomes even more visible when a visitor reaches the bottom of the landing page at the footer. The footer of the website is also very different and has got a very fresh look. With designing and innovation in every bit of the section, the website

Digital Marketing has become a considerable part of the marketing strategies of businesses nowadays. A big part of it is Graphic Designing. Your designs; your logo designs, your web designs, etc. represent your brand and largely influence your customer base. Therefore, it is essential that your designs are according to industry standards and speak of what your brand stands for. Unlimited Graphic Design Services can be your next big solution for all your business problems. There are many ways for designing your graphics: DIY tools, hiring an in-house designer, hiring a freelancer, hiring an agency, or getting Unlimited Graphic Design Services. Among other options, Unlimited Graphic Design Services’ demand is greatly rising. We are going to explore the scope of Unlimited Graphic Design Services for your business. What is Unlimited Graphic Design Services? This Graphic Designing Service is offered by agencies where you can be offered unlimited designing services at a fixed monthly price. The clients are supposed to pay a fee monthly for the services and they can get unlimited designs and revisions according to their needs. Why Unlimited Graphic Design Services? You should choose Unlimited Graphic Design for your business if: 1. Your business has huge demand needs but not enough to hire an in-house designer. If you have regular needs for designs in your business but not enough budget, then this is the right option for you. 2. You are looking for an option where you don’t have to commit for a long time. Unlimited Design services charges are like monthly subscription fees, which you can renew every month and can cancel anytime. 3. You don’t have much time to pursue design-making. The availability of professional designers in Unlimited graphic designing limits your role in conveying your needs and you are saved for the later hassle. 4. You want to relieve your workload at an affordable price. By delegating your designing firm to a designing agency, you will be left for time to pursue other critical jobs for your business. 5. You are looking for professional designers with no delays in work who are available to you whenever you need them and who work according to your design requests. The choice of graphic designing medium depends upon the needs and resources of the business. Irrespective of whether you are a startup, a small scale business, or a medium/large scale business, the designing agencies have different plans curated according to your needs and budget. Some of them also provide the option of monthly payments, quarterly payments, or annual payments. You may choose the most suitable according to your circumstances and your designs are in hands of completely reliable people. For a clearer evaluation, here is a small assessment of different options that are available for graphic designing today. DIY Tools The internet is filled with software and applications that have customized templates and a pool of designs to choose from for your design needs. The presence of already available templates makes designing easier at no cost, or a very minimal amount (in case the person purchases the premium version of the tool). Some of them are Canva, Pablo, Pixlr, etc. However, it takes up lots of effort and time to actually design something that will represent your business. Also, the templates are available to everybody and this really diminishes the unique factor in your designs. In-House Designer The best option is to hire an in-house designer for all your designing needs. A person specially hired to work on designing. There are a lot of costs incurred when we hire someone, like hiring costs, regular salary, employee benefits, etc.In case you don’t have regular design needs or want team efforts, it is going to cost more. So. this option is really costly and not suitable specifically for budgeted firms like startups or small businesses. Hiring a Freelancer The next best option at a slightly lesser cost would be to hire a freelancer. The advantage would be that the business would get a designer without committing for long-term and without incurring hiring costs. The disadvantage could come in the form of delayed deliveries and an unreliable person doing your job. It might prove to be actually a very bad idea when the person calling in sick could impact your complete work schedule. Hiring an Agency After assessing the other options, this option seems to be the most reliable. A team of professional designers working on your projects is lucrative. But when agencies work on a contract basis, there is a lot of rigidity. They would do the work that the contract has prescribed and of course, a limited number of revisions per design. They might not offer the type of flexibility that you would require in order to get your desired results. In Unlimited Graphic Design Services, you would get a team of professional designers working on your projects, ensuring complete professionalism and no delays. The price you have to pay is monthly and therefore no long term commitments and no unnecessary costs incurred. How to choose a service for your needs? There are some factors that you must consider while choosing the right Unlimited Graphic Design Services for your needs among the pool of options available. 1. The first and most important factor is the price charged for the services. You should compare different agencies offering their service and the price they are charging for those services and go for the one that is offering the most benefits at the minimum price.2. You should look for plans offered by different agencies and then select the one that suits your needs the most. It will depend upon the frequency of design needs for your business.3. You should also consider how much work you want to delegate while choosing an agency. The work involves a lot of trust and reliability between the parties. Therefore, research before hiring any services and check the integrity of the agency. Some of the agencies, like Draftss even offer weekly plans for your convenience. Not every agency provides

Different Types Of Graphic Design For Businesses

The graphic design industry is merely a digital counterpart of designing, with its different subtypes. Although there are instances of category overlapping, ordinarily, different types of graphic design services are meant for various purposes. Art and illustration have managed to capture people’s minds more than words or any other form of expression. The media, film, and advertising market has been growing exponentially through graphic content and imagery of a different kind. “Art speaks where words are unable to explain.”—Threadless Artist Mathiole Let us take a look at some of the typical graphical designs that we see around us: Identity Providing Graphic Design Some designs have the sole purpose of branding. An audience views a business the way you do its Branding. For establishing a “face” of the brand through logo design or other designs, the graphic illustration has its usage. It helps to convey the goals of a firm for the growth of trust among the consumers.Typography designs, color usage in posters, graphical libraries, business cards, stationery designs help in brand promotion and create an identity of any firm. They are mostly to communicate with clients and potential clients. Graphic Design in Advertising Field The very thought of advertising nowadays brings us to digital marketing. It is observable that visual marketing is more effective than anything else. Designer use Graphic designs and illustrations strategically and effectively to promote content over the internet and outside. Website landing pages, brochures, newsletters, templates used in email marketing, printed fliers, menu cards, event posters, newspaper advertisements, magazines, e-books, social media advertisements, and banners all fall under this category of graphical designing. They have the sole purpose of reaching out to various people and make them aware of the brand they are promoting. Most of the designers start from this level, as it allows plenty of room for exploration and creativity. UI/UX design The UI, or user interface, refers to that part of the machine or algorithm which interacts directly with the users. The user experience, or UX, refers to the user experience. A good UI is desirable to ensure smooth navigation and control. In case the interface is not optimized or efficient enough, the user experience will deteriorate. Therefore, it becomes essential to have technical expertise and an aesthetic to suit the viewers’ appeal. The UI designers work on different application software, games, thematic designs, app layout, and UI developers or coders to run the programs on multiple devices. It becomes the responsibility of UI/UX developers to check if the programs are not crashing or if the apps are being unresponsive. Illustration used in packaging The packaging design is also considered a type of graphic design for marketing. Despite using the package to safeguard the content inside, most brands use packaging as a tool to influence their customers. Most of the brands use logos or other typical images that have a direct link to their company. However, some package designs consist of concepts, or agendas, or motives, that a company wishes to impart to its audience. Photography, print, and industry knowledge are required to excel in this type of design service. You have to know the specific kind of design that would work on canned drinks but not on tetra packs or pouches. Labels, too, need to be conceptual and require an effort to figure out the most ingenious ways to catch the consumer’s attention. Motion graphics Animated visual stories, video clippings, gifs are all a part of motion graphics. They are an amalgamation of audio and visual effects most of the time. Since moving objects, motion graphics entice the human mind more, they have achieved massive popularity among the masses. Animated presentations, video tutorials, DIYs, animated banners, and trailers serve the purpose of motion graphics and have enormous contributions to the field of graphical designing. Art for art’s sake Last but not least, one cannot merely ignore the pathway graphic designing has opened up. It is also a platform for artists worldwide to express themselves. It is a high-quality digitized version for fine arts, comic books, graphic novels, picture books, and conceptual art. Using different mediums and techniques has enriched the field of art like never before! Artists are now collaborating with composers, writers, social media marketers and architects, like never before! Graphic designing jobs have skyrocketed over the last two decades, with the growing demand for digital artists worldwide. With new startup companies and production houses, graphic designers can now utilize their proficiency and creativity at both personal and commercial levels! It becomes mandatory to understand the type of graphic design service you require in this multiverse that is growing every day! Understanding these differences in services can help you select the right person for the right job! Nevertheless, if you are unsure, you may opt for a consultancy from experts who can guide you better according to your needs and interest. Draftss is a company that provides graphic design services along with consultancy and advice. You may visit their website for related information and contact information!

Designing With Reduced Motion For Motion Sensitivities

CSS has added features that allow us to recognize the current environment of the user’s certain user expectations and qualities. One of those new features can be particularly useful for graphic designing and web designing for more inclusive motion on the web. One of the highly used features specifically is the preferred-reduced-motion media function. This brings a new dimension to Motion Graphic Designing. Why Reduce Motion? Back in 2013, the introduction of iOS7 sparked an awareness in the graphic designing and web designing community. Any movement on the screen may have physical implications for people with movement sensitivities, even though it was part of an interface. The big smartphone and desktop operating systems have added features for individuals. The screens minimize the amount of motion they experience in their operating systems in the years since then. In our work, the design choices we make around animation directly impact how our work impacts individuals with sensitivities to motion. Type of motion is likely and ways to minimize them with our design choices allow us to get better for the audience. It helps to construct an environment that is healthy for our audience. It will not cause unintended harm. Animation may also have a positive influence on our UX efforts. But it is up to us to ensure that we use it responsibly, just as we are trying to use our other design resources responsibly. Prefers Reduced Motion On The Web It now has good browser support for the preferred-reduced-motion media feature. Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, iOS Safari, Android Browsers, and Chrome for Android are supported in the latest versions. The level of support we have makes it something you can use entirely in manufacturing. Even, if this function isn’t supported by someone’s browser, nothing bad happens. It will just be overlooked, and things will proceed as before. The Prefers Reduced Motion Media Feature In Practice Deciding how to use the prefers-reduced-motion media feature is where we have room for solutions to be created.  Solutions, that best fit our products and content context. You’ll want to define any possible motion effects on your site for most web projects first. Then apply the prefers-reduced-motion media feature to give a reduced version of that effect. Let’s look in more depth at each move. IDENTIFYING POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING MOTION Go through some standard user flows for your site or product to find any possibly triggering motion that you may have. And take a closer look at the motion effects used: Do you have any interactions that have big movements? Any big zooms, spinning effects, or effects of parallax? For those with motion sensitivities, any of those types of animated effects are very likely to be troublesome. Animated effects such as color fades, opacity changes, and slight scale changes are unlikely to be problematic. If in doubt, adding the impact in question to your “to minimize” list to err on the side of caution can’t hurt. CREATE A REDUCED MOTION VERSION Next, for these potentially triggering results, you want to assess the most suitable reduced motion condition. Can you modify the animation easily for reduced motion requests to use a non-motion effect like an opacity fade or crossfade? Can you maintain the sense of the material by pausing the motion or eliminating the effect fully for decreased motion? An important factor in deciding what would be the most appropriate reduced version will be the role of the motion in question. You don’t want to delete material accidentally or worsen the overall experience. It’s important for content creators to make the work more inclusive. Make it up by taking advantage of the prefers-reduced-motion media. With movement on the internet, we can be completely articulate and innovative while being responsible and inclusive as well. But the level of consciousness is still something that we have to be, well, aware of. In their OS settings, not everyone who might need reduced movement is aware of the option. Perhaps even fewer individuals know that as so few websites actually take advantage of it. It can also impact content in their browser. The more we use the prefers-reduced-motion media feature and provide it with a quality reduced motion experience, the more meaningful it will be for those who need it.

Perform split testing or multivariate testing or A / B testing. Testing of the ads is the key to enhancing their performance. Graphic Design Trends have hit a significant milestone in the year 2020. It’s the dawn of a new era, and as designers start to define the era, graphic design is poised to hit new heights. There is a sensation in the air that anything can happen-that as we know it; we are about to see the next evolution of graphic design. Designers are already giving us glimmers of what is to come, but it might take a few years for the 20s to reach their stride. Let’s take a look at the latest 2020 trends in graphic design that are already beginning to define this new decade. Cyberpunk Color Schemes for Graphic Design Cyberpunk color schemes in practice create surreal environments for viewers, such as the picture below, that they are unable to witness in real life. Despite the fact that they are shamelessly drawing attention to themselves, their light often makes models feel friendly and welcoming. Street Art Styles Graffiti and street art methods cater to them in a nostalgic way, conjuring up memories of the punk scene of the 70s, the 80s neon, and the 90s grungy. But this trend is more than the usual comeback in the year 2020. For our unique moment in time, street art’s return to graphic design is ripe. Learning design has been more available than ever over the past decade. Graffiti is also a movement of jubilance and independence, of breaking ties and protesting tradition, with its inherent edginess (given its connexion with vandalism). The street art trend, all in all, is the ideal aesthetic to make us feel like the future is in our hands. Ultra-thin Geometry for Graphic Design Lines express the shape and nature of an entity as a basic aspect of graphic design. Geometric lines depict objects that are man-made and technical, while more natural and organic forms are depicted by curved lines. We see designers combining these line types in 2020 in order to achieve impossible shapes. Such models are based on stable geometry but still manage to feel transient and ethereal. They look metallic, but like smoke, they drift. Ultra-thin geometry without computer help is sleek, abstract, and difficult to pull off, which is probably why it is popular in technology and industrial branding. This style seems to convey the future of technology, something less and less physical the further we go into the “internet” and talk about the enigmatic possibilities in the coming years that await us. Paper Cut-out Collages Many collages tend to trick the viewer into seeing a single coherent picture when there are several. But there’s nothing to hide from the 2020 colleges. Designers combine pictures, such as drawings and photos, that simply do not belong to the same universe. They leave pictures with angular edges and white outlines that come from fast-and-dirty cutting and pasting, ditching smooth photo editing. The result is that the line between contrast and harmony is straddled, putting these disparate elements together in a sort of asynchronous elegance. Collages are largely on the artsier side though they are visually striking, making them perfect for editorial drawings, posters, and book covers.  Hand Lettering in Graphic Design With a Big Personality A vital aspect of graphic design has always been typography. When everything has to make immediate sense to new users in the digital age, typography has become very functional by necessity. But in recent years, in ways we haven’t seen since print advertising and days gone by magazines, the form has become bigger, bolder, and more experimental. Designers show that with bold typographic styles, even a composition that restricts itself to white space and text can still be adventurous. The larger-than-life theme will begin in 2020 but in a more compassionate direction. Custom hand-lettering is already very common, and it will follow branded typography by becoming more colorful, imprecise, and eccentric. Like the examples above, this can be done with lettering that comes alive. In order to give a sense of the individuals behind the brand, lettering can personify its subject matter or be offbeat and non-identical. Consumers will be craving designs designed by human hands in the years to come, and it is up to designers to provide the form that will appeal to them. Dystopian Aesthetic in Graphic Design Dystopia is searching for a voice in every medium imaginable, thanks to our cultural obsession with shows like “Black Mirror” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.” In general, dystopia (the opposite of utopia) refers to imaginary, dystopian worlds where somewhere in their history has taken a wrong turn. From a design point of view, dystopia seeks expression through cold color schemes, mechanized typography, techniques of glitch art, and imagery that merges tech with organic matter or totally removes people from the scene. Although the genre primarily portrays a future that has gone wrong, things are not always as bleak as they seem. A cautionary tale also takes the form of Dystopia, reminding us to keep our eyes open and vigilant. This pattern is mainly noticeable in illustrative media, such as album covers and t-shirts, so far. These styles are ways to get viewers to pause and reexamine the world around them. Dystopia is a movement with something to tell, and its success means that the microphone is being taken by designers in 2020. Hyper-pastiche Without a vintage influenced look making some sort of comeback, no graphic design trends list will be complete. Hyper-pastiche is what makes 2020 unique: designers will not recreate one particular era, but almost all of them. Whether it’s Victorian or Renaissance, Art Deco or Art Nouveau, in one huge chronological collage, past art trends blend with new designs. On one level, the 2020 trends in graphic design pay homage to their forebears. They are looking for ways of redefining the digital aesthetic, and who better than the old masters to turn to? This is why what might be a simple letter mark for Madeline Jordan Photography is turned into something extraordinary by an Art

Essential Tips For Graphic Design Layout

To get better at any art form, especially Graphic Design, it’s known that you must first learn the necessary instruments and procedures that make it up. Graphic Design is no distinct from playing an instrument or even a chef making a meal. If the graphic design elements (line, color, texture, shape) are the ingredients set out in front and the design concepts (movement, rhythm, proportion, etc.) are the formula used to produce the meal, then consider the final plating as the graphic design layout. Yeah, sure, the chef might throw it all in a bowl and call it good. Or, in a way that highlights the individual elements inside, the chef could organize the ingredients; or deliver a message in a beautiful box. With time and attention, the individual consuming the meal can create an unforgettable experience. Read on to find more about the ways you can structure your graphic design layouts to have the showstopping effect. The grid Many designers see all their projects running across an invisible grid. Clean grid lines are popular and almost impossible to avoid in modern web design. There are a few essential explanations for this: grids make it easier to adapt, more efficient, and cleaner for your projects. Grids not only add organization to the design but the design development process. Say, for a lecture series, you want to create a poster. Build a strong grid, and your simple designs will feel connected if the dates, times, photos, and colors all change. Instant quality and upgrading and adapting for less time. When working in a team, baseline grids often give you a great road-map. The feeling of relief that comes along opening the template of someone else and having a simple grid to follow is known to each designer! Emphasis and scale The eye needs typically a place to rest or something of interest to hold it; otherwise, individuals are going to look at the concept and move on quickly. Say, at a family reunion, you take a snapshot of your mom. By making your mother the subject and focal point of your composition, you intend to bring attention to the moment and the joy of that gathering. Balance Isn’t everything in life a search to have balance? Design is just no different. To find balance in their system, designers must continuously juggle numerous elements. In each template, imagine an invisible collection of scales and make sure that by cloistering elements on one side of your grid, you don’t tip the scales. By marrying large style elements (“What We Do” “Our Works”) with smaller, equal-sized paragraphs of longer explanatory copy, the above website design does this cleanly. Bear in mind that white space (or negative space) is an aspect in terms of composition as well. White space provides our eyes with paths in the architecture to pursue. Offer some breathing space to each feature on the page, and the balance between positive and negative space will emerge organically. You can see how bringing the components closer together in the web design above (thus shrinking the negative space and disturbing the piece’s balance) makes the design claustrophobic and inevitably ineffective. Rule of thirds In design, the Rule of Thirds is unavoidable. It’s such a clear and powerful fundamental rule; it always feels like a cheat: divide the template into three rows and columns. The points where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect natural form guidelines for where your topic and supporting elements should be positioned. Fighting to find harmony in your designs? The Rule of Thirds is your new best friend now. Rule of odds The Rule of Odds says that pleasing layouts often appear to have an odd number of elements. Most commonly three, positioned in the foreground. In the middle, the two objects on the outside both complement the focal point, creating a precise, natural balance. In logo design, this is also true, where the company name will offset a centered label on either side. This is only a description of the various ways in which a designer can shape a composition to have the most significant effect on viewers. Know, as well, that rules are meant to be broken. But once you begin to understand and apply these rules and systems in your work, your designs will be improved and strengthened immeasurably.
